So, it looks like I'll be saving extra $$$s for awhile so I can afford another set of BKP.
I've been interested in a 7 string for awhile and on the recommendation of a friend of mine, I acquired a MIJ RG7421 that was made in 1999. The neck of the guitar is surprisingly good and the wood of the guitar is snappy, alive, and very resonant. Really the opposite of a schecter LOL! The stock pickups are decent but I can tell the guitar itself really shines.
I'm pretty much 90% set on a Juggernaut 7 string set for this guitar but I'm wondering what covers to get.
So far I really like Tyger with black screws, Chrome Battleworn with black bolts, or black and grey zebra with gold screws.
What do you all think?

(I saw this design on BKP's facebook page. Not even sure if there is a 7 string option. I really like it though :)

I think the tygers would fit right in there and make it pop, give it that certain something in look to match the tone you describe. Take it from a good looking Ibby to a machine.

There's surprisingly little difference between the Tygers and the Battleworn. I'm not a fan of covers and my last set of pickups are black with double rows of gold screws so I'm a bit biased towards the zebra set but looking at the BKP website, I can't see a grey bobbin anywhere. Are you sure it's not a picture of a black/white zebra? Of course, as a Sunderland fan I wouldn't have black/white either. How about maintaining the 'black' theme by having black bobbins with double rows of black bolts? Or do as I did and get black with double rows of gold screws? Can you get gold bolts?

I would go tiger if it was me! But those zebra uncovered would look great too (I saw them on the FB page too).
Another thought - it's possible that bkp's with covers might not fit without opening up the corners of the pickup routs, whereas uncovered ones are more likely to fit - might be worth doing some google research on that to see if someone fitted them to the model you have. Just a thought :)

In these pics not, agreed, but the thing with battleworn is that they come out random, so they vary a lot. I´ve seen pics of really harshly scared ones around here while mine are rather conservative, sadly. Never quite know what you are going to get.

Which is why I wouldn't buy them. I tried a set once in black and I really liked the pictures of them as it looked like a definite design idea but when I got them they just looked like a knackered old set of pickups that nobody had bothered looking after. They went back immediately. Sometimes they look fantastic and other times they look awful so I wouldn't take the chance. As it happens I'm pretty much set on open pickups anyway these days so I never even consider covers anymore. If he can get them in that black/pale grey or black/dirty white look with gold screws, I'd go with them as my first choice in a heartbeat. They look incredible and the more I look at them, the more I like them.

My thoughts exactly on the chrome battleworn. They look fantastic with the black highlights but if they look like they've been beat up it's just not the same.
And to answer this question, yes, that is a black and grey zebra with the gold screws. BKP had this picture up on their facebook page and I immediately though "DAMN THAT LOOKS GREAT!"
Really, I've always totally loved the tyger cover but I also really love that zebra look. Listening to clips I often prefer the sound of covered humbuckers. It's just sweeter in the highs and more diffuse. But I do agree that the more I look at the black and grey zebra with the gold screws, the more I love that look. Seems like it would look really neat in that all black guitar!
The Tyger covers are brushed nickel so they tarnish over time, right? I had considered Camo covers but I've seen them in some black instruments and they look a bit weird to me.

So I asked BKP about the grey /black / gold screws and they said this is available for a 7 string set! YAY! I'm really leaning toward that option since it is all kinds of awesome and would look really cool.
