Title: ESP M-II Deluxe 1989 - Humbucker Bridge Pickup Suggestion
Post by: uchal on June 18, 2016, 10:44:12 AM
Hi

I need a suggestion for the following guitar:
- ESP M-II Deluxe 1989 - alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
- bridge: Dimarzio Evolution , neck Dimarzio HS-3

Unplugged the guitar is very bright as it can be for the rosewood fingerboard.

I need a replacement for the humbucker bridge . The Evo is suited for the solo guitar but I'm not a shredded .  I need something with more string separation and clarity. I play mostly melodic rock so the output should be something between medium and high. The sound of the pickup should not break walls but to translate the harmonics of the wood. Little added bass would be helpfull compared to Evo.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards
Uchal

Melodic rock, bright guitar, extra bass, medium high output.....I am temped to say Crawler there. Growly midrange, present and musical topend, warm bass. Overall rounded and warm tone, making it perfect for bright guitars where it creates great balance. I have one in an Ibanez S series, also bright and little wood, and it just makes the guitar grow larger. Very melodic pickup. The kind where you strike a chord under some gain and you just get a complete sound.

The Crawler is extremely versatile for anything from Blues Rock to early Metal and will make your guitar sound HUGE. If you ever play with a lot of gain, it will start to get a little flubby at the bottom end so if you're thinking of something that's more Heavy Rock to Metal with a great tone and tighter bottom end, I'd also suggest you seriously consider the Holydiver. It's well up in the contemporary section and it certainly has a more modern tone but it's more versatile than that might suggest. I didn't find it much hotter than the Crawler, just a bit more modern in feel.
