Title: What kind of single coil
Post by: Peterku on April 01, 2006, 08:14:26 PM
Hello,
What kind of Strat neck single would provide the most balanced (= not overly bassy or nasal) sound when in parallel with a hot Alnico V humbucker like the Nailbomb (in series, not split)?
Would a low-output or a hotter single coil be the best for the task?

I have  a pair of Trilogy Suites with my Nailbomb - they balance great in split and combination sounds.  That said, I am going to be moving the NB to a different guitar and using it in a HSH set with a Nailbomb neck and an Irish Tour in the middle!

The Trilogy Suite, despite being a high gainer on paper, always surprises by how genuinely Straty it can be and will work really well in parallel.

Thanks for your response, Tim.

I use 11' strings. Won't a (relatively) high-output Alnico V single coil wound with a thinner wire be too bassy in the neck position?
