Title: My first mini
Post by: Telerocker on August 22, 2016, 09:04:06 AM
My first mini, just as big as lemon but not a lemon by itself. The well known clean boost based on the old Echoplex-preamp. It's a clean boost but seems to add harmonics and depth to your tone. Inspiring little gem.

I`ve been using the same pedal for a while now as a volume boost after distortion pedal. Even when the knob is all way down I find it to be really big volume boost.

Hey Lucas. I guess you have the first version that is known for the volumeboost on zero.  That can be modded btw. I have the new version which has unity gain at 12.00 o'clock.

you mean, those 2 dip switches inside? one as far as I know gives you +3dB gain or something (default settings), next weekend have to experiment with them a bit, because even on zero, knob all way down it gives some serious volume boost.
I only use it for boosting solos but always keeps it on zero and still it`s loud as hell

That's the issue with the first version. Can be modded though.

That is supposed to be a very cool pedal.

How do you do that? Cheers

Did you put the dipswitch to 'bass boost off'? That makes a difference.

Many thanks, but including postage costs it`s nearly the price of new pedal. I live in the UK. Quite expensive, I mean overall cost.
This weekend have to experiment with dip switches inside, hope version 1 has them too, didn`t open the pedal yet.

I edited my reply. Look at the first link. Could be helpful.

Just got one of those too. I quite like it. As you say, it's basically a clean boost, but with a few extra harmonics of fatness. Good pedal, not super amazing or something when you consider the price better are available. Still, good secondhand buy. Can't argue with the size!

It a subtile pedal, but as soon as you turn it off, you're missing some juice.

I fully agree, I also like how it keeps your definition and playing nuances even at high levels of boost. The small amount of bite added by the bright switch is also perfect. Very nice design.

But £143 price new in the UK!!!

Yeah, not a cheapo, but I prefer realiable pedals on my board and since so many pro's use the EP-Booster I was convinced it will be a keeper.

I had just the same thought - the proper Xotic version was almost guaranteed to be good. Its also the only version to accept a battery.

Its gone directly to my board, so obviously it was a good purchase
