Title: Help me to choose what covers fits the best (aesthetic)
Post by: Lucas on September 01, 2016, 07:57:03 PM
Hi, as the title says, I cannot decide what covers will fit my Warmoth Tele aesthetically.
It is HH so, have 3 ideas, but still being opened for others as well!
Looking forward to hear your opinions.

What do you think?

I think the blue burst top would go well with the blue hues from the burnt chrome.

Just regular chrome would be my second choice.

I want to avoid regular chrome in the bridge because combined with the bridge it will create big slab of metal in the middle of the guitar which I don`t like.
any other thoughts?

Personally I would go with aged cream open coils for both positions

Initially I was thinking about putting Crawler in bridge but after hours of thinking and listening to audio clips, reading opinions I changed my mind to Black Dog.
I would like to keep bridge as open coils, zebra would look killer, but due to guitar woods (bolt on alder tele with maple cap) and the fact that Black Dog is rather bright pickup I was 'forced' to put cover to darken the sound a bit.

Actually I like the idea of Burnt Chrome in bridge and regular chrome in the neck.

I think tygers would look classy in that guitar, but as the guys say burnt chrome would be also cool.

Many thanks!
Today I showed that picture of that guitar to my band members, after few seconds they said that white pearl pickguard looks terrible with that Carribean Burst, and Parchment or Cream pickguard would look better. That made me think...

I tend to agree with them.

It is a kind of a warm/cold clash

I tend to like black or cream better, but the white looks fine in your guitar

buying a new pickguard is not that expensive, started thinking about cream one.
At the end of the day I can sell one on eBay anyway.

just wondering how p90 humbucker size in tyger finish would look like on cream pickguard. Tyger finish is quite yellow-ish.

cream pickguard, bridge humbucker zebra open coil, and neck HSP90 in tyger finish?

I think the white pearl pickguard is OK, even though I would have chosen plain white or parchment.

As for the humbucker covers my vote goes to either both tygyr or burnt chrome.

Cheers Stephan

Thanks, I`ve already ordered cream pickguard and in my opinion cream looks more 'natural' and balanced, just better. Picture below (sorry for average quality).

As I have everything now it`s time for pickups. Cream pickguard left me with 2 options:

1. both tyger finish (humbucker in bridge and HSP90 in neck). In this option I`m afraid that tyger combined with bridge will create massive block of metal in the middle.

2. cream open coil in the bridge and tyger in neck

well, burnt chrome is a good option as well. Shame that I cannot use Photoshop to see all those covers how they would look like with the body.

do you think it`s a good idea to mix open coil in the bridge with cover in neck position?

This sounds like it could work quite well
