whats the difference with putting a cover on a pickup and not having one?

some say putting a cover on say a humbucker effects the tonal response to the top end fequencies.....

I'm sitting right on the fence on that argument though.

Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page arent idiots and they did it. :roll:

The only difference i saw on my Dean was that it looked cooler.   :lol:

I think it has more to do with the way the cover affects the magnetic field of the pickup. However, some argue that this has no effect. I don't know what to think, since Bareknuckle adjust the wind to compensate for whatever cover you're putting/not putting on. I used to hate the LOOK of covered pups, till I saw the BKs.
