Hi Folks, for sometime the idea of a guitar club has been floating around my addled brain. I imagine a place where players from beginners onwards can get together in a nice atmosphere, drink a beer or two and talk about guitar stuff. There would be a couple of amps and guitars available so you could show off your latest licks, show us your guitars and pedals etc. Maybe an occasional masterclass from some of our gifted local players. Perhaps a couple of folks could have a short jam together.
Well, this has now become a reality. I've found a local pub that will let me have their very nice upstairs room for no cost. I've started to generate interest on Facebook. I'm looking at starting in the new year and doing it on alternate Tuesdays from 7pm to 10pm.
What do you guys think ? I would very much appreciate your thoughts and suggestions about how to run this thing, the sort of content you would like to see etc.
For anyone local I'm based in Brighton, East Sx.

Awesome!
Unfortunately, I am a few thousand miles away. :(

Same here. I think it's a great idea. I've had some of the NY BK'ers round the house for beers and guitars in the past, but this sounds great in a pub.

That does sound like a really good idea. I'm London based, but Brighton isn't too far. I could perhaps visit sometimes.

Nice one gwEM. I'm getting some positive responses but it's early days and most people seem to be infected with pre-Christmas apathy i.e. 'Let's get Christmas out of the way'. I think most people actually dread Christmas and are vibrating with the tension of thinking about family get-togethers, work parties, travel (no trains in the South East) and the horrendous cost of the whole, sorry exercise.

Well pal, I don't think that players want to hang out with newbies at all. This is just don't interest them. They play for a long time and have a good level, so they already know everything that you want to say and they heard it and think about it a million times I guess, so they just wanna play and about something else.
Your proposition can be more relevant for people how just started play a guitar and for those who plays it from time to time but now more than one year summarily.
