Title: Would a Trilogy Neck Overpower a Holy Diver Bridge?
Post by: darrenw5094 on January 08, 2017, 06:28:10 PM
Would a Trilogy Neck Overpower a Holy Diver Bridge or would they match volume and gain wise?

I have a HD bridge in a Fender Floyd Strat. The other 2 pups are stock single coils, which are not the best.
I also have a Trilogly single coil spare here in a drawer to slot into the neck.

It's a good match. I've used Trilogy Suites with a Holydiver and they were fine.

Great to hear.....your info is always spot on :)

Wonder if an Irish Tour would be a good choice for the middle SC

It would give you a bit more variety as the Irish Tour sounds more like a traditional Strat pickup. It's something I would do now but not when I was actually using Trilogy Suites. In fairness, I prefer my singles on an HSS set up to be hot so that there is no volume drop when changing to them from the humbucker. I eventually ended up trying a Miracle Man and bridge Sinners with baseplates in the middle and neck positions but overall I liked the Trilogy Suites best. I'd buy Trilogy Suites again and I'd like to give Slowhands a go.

I agree the Trilogies do go well with bridge humbuckers. I have a H-S guitar with Cold Sweat and Trilogy and I'm constantly amazed by what a good combo that is. Even works well for low gain vintagey sounding stuff, though probably not my first choice there.

You might be surprised how much lower output the Slowhand is than the Trilogy Suite
