Title: Broken tone controls
Post by: CommonCourtesy on January 21, 2017, 03:57:13 PM
My Les Paul standard bridge tone pot has started acting funny today, crackly and the high end sounds very tame. I initially suspected there was dust or some kind of dirt in the pot so removed the back panel and gave it a good ol' spray with some servisol. It didn't do the trick however as it keeps crackling and you have to really twist and push on the tone screw to get some high end back. All the other knobs are fine, just the tone on the bridge pickup.

Any suggestions on how to fix before I resort to taking it in for repair?

To be honest I like to disconnect my tone knob on the bridge of Les Pauls so if I can't fix it I can easily just disconnect the tone, but I'm worried I won't cut the right wire!
