Title: Mayones Duvell
Post by: Jkouf on January 29, 2017, 12:47:26 PM
Just git a Mayones Duvell with Swamp ash body, quilt top and wenge bubinga neck. I originally put a Cold sweat neck and a Painkiller bridge. The guiatr is very reonant. Im ok with the neck and love the tightness of the painkiller bridge but want something a little thicker or boomier if you will but with the same tightness.

Thanks

thick, tight and somewhat boomy sounds like a juggernaut

I recently put a Jugg in the bridge of my Setius.
For that guitar the Jugg works really well, a little beter even that the Holy Diver

How would blackhawks sound in this guitar? How do they compare to Warpigs? Thanks

How would the Blackhawks sound? Are the Warpigs overkill too harsh? Thanks

The alnico version of the Warpig is definitely not harsh

The Black Hawk would be more harsh sounding than the A-Pig.

The Blackhawk could fit the bill well - they definitely have more low end than the Painkiller but are still tight. Your original idea of the Juggernaut would also be great - they are smoother in the top than the Blackhawk, but are again very tight.
Unlike the other commenters, I'd say the alnico Warpig would be unsuitable since it has a much looser, squishier low end and is a lot more saturated.

I recently had a Jugg set in a swamp ash bodied guitar w/ wenge neck & IMO the combination of the Jugg's low mid + the low mid introduced by the wenge neck is just too much.  Flub city.  I'm surprised you're looking for something with more weight than the Painkiller, as that's exactly what I put in to fix the Jugg flub problem & love it.  Maybe the C-Hawk or C-Bomb?
