Title: Ideas for pickup cover designs
Post by: Ratrod on May 19, 2005, 09:11:31 PM
We all love those special covers Tim makes: the distresses Warpig cover, the Camo cover, the black cover with engravings, special screws etc.

I would love a pickup cover that looks like a piece of an engine block or something.

C'mon guys, get creative, do you have any new designs in mind?

Someone said something about burnt chrome.... Here it is!
it's still very shiny, which doesnt come across as well in the photo.

Yes!! That's exactly what I had in mind :P
What kind of screws would go good with that? Allen caps, gold screws, hex screws?

There quite fun to do because they glow red, I'll try and get a picture of it!
You could have anything you want really, I think that Silver or gold would go well with it. Silver allen bolts mabey?
We can do this cover for any pickup, It would cost the same as a warpig or nailbomb (depending on single/double screw design) because of the extra work involved.
The best thing is that it looks differnt to the Warpig and Nailbomb covers because it still has the shine to it that chrome has.

A new thaught jumped in my mind.
Black cap head allen bolts! This pickup would be the spitting image of a 426 Hemi valve cover. Grrrrr.

How about Peterku's idea of a couple of deep scratches on a pickup as if inflicted by a beast?

A row of crome screws and a row of allen head bolts?

I must admit, a lot of these custom pickups look very sexy, I'm just waiting for the single coils to get cool cover too :D

I have a great idea, two singles in the Nailbomb camo cover (like the set with NAILBOMB etched into them) but with Trilogy (in script) and Sinner (in a gothic kinda of text) respectivley.  Pure heaven.

Please, oh go on, pretty please, with a Cherry on top.

Andy!

I don't think I will be going for a double row of screws. Just one row of black cap head screws.

A double row would look cool with gold allen bolts, though. 8)

Plenty time to think it all over, I gotta finish the Yamaha SG project first.
I will probably have to sell one of my guitars too for the next project

unfortunatly you cant really do anything with single oil covers because they are made out of plastic, and would melt!
