Title: Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2 Plus
Post by: Andy Lindsay on April 06, 2006, 10:46:53 AM
My current stereo setup involves having pedal effects in both the amps input, and the effects loop. I have an AC power brick, but you can't power all the pedals together as it creates a ground loop. So it's either power the pedals in the loop, or the input to keep things quiet. I'm having to use a 2nd power supply to run the remaining pedals, which I don't really have room for.
The Voodoo lab Pedal Power 2 Plus is supposed to eliminate ground loop problems, but it's £150. Has anyone used one of these before? I don't want to spend this much if it won't work.

Thanks

I know it's not quite what you've asked, but I use a Diago Powerstation (http://www.diago.co.uk) to power my pedalboard and have never ahd a problem. It doesn't add any extra hum, and is practically 100% 'future proof' as it has enough power available to power 30 or so pedals, and it's only £50!

I remember reading somewhere about someone that had the same problem you're having and he tried 1 of the Powerstations and it worked great.

It may be worth emailling Diago with this question to see if the Powerstation is of any help. It'd save you £100 in the process too :)

I have a PP2 and use it for the reason you mentioned.  My Godlyke Powerall creates a ground loop as soon as I power FX in both places, but the PP2 has individual isolated outputs that prevents ground loops.

Also, it'll power more than just eight pedals.  Each tap has 100ma of juice, which is enough to power anywhere from 2 to 10 pedals, depending on current draw.

I'm only using 5 pedals, so it sounding good.  Is there anywhere to get one cheaper than £150? It's a lot of cash. Most of my other talent boosters didn't cost this much!
