Greetings Forum,
I have a PRS Custom 24 and I'm swapping the stock bridge pickup with a tremonti treble pup which is high-output. I mainly play high gain stuff, metal, modern hard rock/nu metal etc....I have nailbomb and Emerald neck pickups laying around and was wondering which would match better with the tremonti treble, in terms of out-put and being "balanced"? Should this even be a concern?
Thanks..
J

Why not an A-bomb bridge? ;)
If you get a BKP neck pickup, you're only going to be using the neck pickup
Try the A-Bomb neck and see what you think. You can always swap in the Emerald neck if you dislike it.

they are somewhat similar, but the neck nailbomb is a bit hotter, more trebly and scooped, while the emerald is warmer and a bit more balanced
both should work fine, but they won't match the bridge tremonti output
the tremonti full set isn't evenly matched tone or output-wise at all, anyway, so you shouldn't worry

I'd go with the Emerald neck because it's just incredible and once it's in there, I imagine the Tremonti pickup will start to look very ordinary.

Thanks all for the feedback! I do have the nailbomb bridge as well...but Im going for more of a scooped rhythm sound which the tremonti bridge should be. I'm gonna go for the emeralds first and see how that sounds. I guess I'll just have to experiment and see what sounds best. Thanks again!

the tremonti is very middy, more than an alnico nailbomb
it reminds me of the painkiller, but more compressed, like the ceramic nailbomb
my bandmate replaced the tremonti with a miracle man and his PRS sounds way way better with that
the tremonti is not bad, though

The scooped reference made me think Miracle Man too.
