Title: Epiphone Les Paul STD rewire / pots
Post by: mrjackwasley on March 01, 2017, 09:07:35 PM
Hi all,

I've recently fitted a set of juggernaughts to my Epi Les Paul and I'm now wanting to purchase new pots, caps , three way toggle switch and possibly an input jack. Could anyone help with the following questions?

500k CTS pots or 3/4" CTS pots? also would these the same pot for volume and tone? or are the BKP 550k pots a better shout?

Jensen Caps, do I want 0.015UFD or 0.022UFD? whats the difference?

500K is the rating, 3/4" would be the length of the shaft.

Look at what you have in there currently.  Les Pauls usually have the long shaft. The diameter of the shaft will be a bit bigger than the ones on your Epi though (they are metric), so you would need to enlarge the holes with a tapered reamer.

CTS and Bourns 500K pots are both good.  The 550K pots that BKP sells are basically high-spec 500K pots.  There is a tolerance on pots, sometimes 10%, sometimes 20%.  This means that if you buy a random CTS pot it might be anywhere between 400K and 600K in theory.

O.015uf is brighter than 0.022uf. People sometimes use 0.015uf in the neck position.  I would avoid it for the bridge
