any thoughts on nailbombs in a gibson cs class5 for screaming leads and growling chords ?
-
Nail bombs are always good choice for rock. My favorite pickup in the BKP line up.
-
thanks i think il go for them :)

Hmm, you're convinced quite quick
Mind you that the NB is an agressive, hairy pickup with a topend sizzle you have to like. I think it's a good BKP for rhythm, but there are better leadpickups in the range, like the Holy Diver.

I only have a ceramic version of Nailbomb but I can assure you that while being great rhythm pickup, leads aren`t great for sure.
For reference my Miracle Man in second guitar has superior leads in comparison to NB.

A bomb is the embodiment of growling chords. Not so great for screaming leads. Needs a bit of help from an OD pedal.

I think the Cbomb is the hardest pickup to fit in any guitar. I've heard people happy with them in some guitars but most people and my own experience leans to the opposite. My most hated pickup ever. Just couldn't get anything right from it except for pinch harmonics

Again, A Bomb is my favourite pickup for heavy rhythm but I'd have to agree that it doesn't do leads so well. However, the Nailbomb neck in a really warm guitar does become a very good lead but it needs a warm sounding guitar to get the best out of it.

I agree the A Bomb doesn't sound the best as a lead pick up.
I boost it with another pedal. I don't add too much gain because it'll sound compressed, just a tad of gain, but boost the volume and treble so it stands out.
It beefs up the highs pretty well in my experience.

listen to the snortin whiskey nailbomb demo on youtube it does leadwork pretty good in my ears its all a matter of taste and a good ts9 to beef up the sound should help
-
the cs is pretty sweet warm and lots of volume on acoustic really balanced guitar :) i ordered the pickup yesterday exited and worst case scenario if they dont fit my taste i just order a different set but i mostly play chords so it should be fine loving the agression in the pups
-
You ordered a Cold Sweat set?
-
nope i ordered the nailbomb set but i might go for a coldsweat neck if the nailbomb neck dosent fit my taste
-
cs as in custom shop les paul hehe
-
but i did order the colsweat neck just in case and asked them to match it with the nailbomb bridge
-
i finally went for abomb set and i asked them to voice the coldsweat neck for the abomb bridge and they made it one order and not two so they are working on it pretty sweet specially voiced both for the guitar and voiced to the abomb bridge good customer service
