OK,
I am hoping I can get some opinions on colour as I am having a hard time deciding.
The make/model is NOT in question ( :) ) as this is what I'm getting, but am torn between these colours.
Thanks for any opinons,
Nick

I am really most into the Carbon Blue,White and Buttercream (BAD name IMO, Vintage White would be better). Buttercream is hard to find and slight upcharge as limited 2005 colour (go figure) but comes with MUCH nicer case than normal SKB. Anyway, looks like the aged binding on my Les Paul.
-
White, for me. I don't mind the gold, although I normally dislike gold guitars. And I usually like red, but this one doesn't do it for me all that much. It's not bad though.
The blue and the buttercream I'm not fussed on.
-
I'd go for the red or metalic blue. ...If they did it in purple with JP's talent built in, I'd get a morgage for it!
-
white, definetly
-
cool
thanks guys
White winning thus far then :)
Should post I poll I guess LOL
I like the "vintage" look of the "buttercream", hate the name though and it is MORE costly for being a limited colour (with NOTHING but a 2005 limited painted on back????, not much more $$$$ but still!).
I figure the blue will show EVERY fingerprint like my Ebony les Paul.
Keep em coming please :)
-
Fatbob, btw they kinda do a Purple, sig. colour called Mystic Dream (one of those tint shifting colours).

Blue definitely.
-
i liked the red and the buttercream. lol - yu'll never decide based on what we all think dude...
-
it ALL helps believe me, soooooooo confuzed here lol.
-
I have gone for the buttercream Nick.
-
lol
this is actually helping, honest :)
I am dealing with two dealers here.
Both have all colours mentioned except only one has Buttercream.
To put it in context.
Fully loaded at first place is $75 less than Buttercream at other place. Also, first place is doing free shipping (bout $40 saving). So, buttercream will cost $115 more than other colours). Dunno if thats worth it. Also, Buttercream is a 2005 colour so the guitar may have been sitting for awhile (not that that should matter).
-
sitting a year? i'm sure that won't make much difference!
-
Yeah I know, just thought would point it out.
My head is in a spin over somthing that should be JOYOUS, bloody weird LOL
-
Buttercream for me though the Gold is actually nice (dont normally like gold)

better Buttercream pics (v.hard as light plays BIG part with a whiteish colour).

Buttercream for sure (if I was the one buying it).
The ltd run colours tend to hold their value better too (well for rics anyway)

I am STILL in a quandry.
Cost is not really too much into it as it is in dollars and therefore cheaper.
Buttercream, like it as it is kinda "vintage white". Don't like an upcharge for a limited colour only (thats silly).
Buttercream only available from one place which is more and plus shipping.
Buttercream has a plus though. It comes in Tolex (top style) fender style case.
My axis's are (were as sold one) in SKB molded cases, which I hate. I have one damaged one now. Admittedly gonna get paid out by UPS (as was insured) but generally hate em.
Actually, although not exactly speedy (am getting paid out as seller/shipper emailed me 30 mins ago confirming cheque should be in hand in 10-14 days) the UPS payout will cover any upcharge.
-
white for me, nick- and that's strange, i'm not a fan of white guitars!
-
no worries Dave, white is "cheapest" I have qoute on thus far (dealer getting back to me if Carbon Blue has deposit or not). These are both without JP inlays you see, which I really would NOT spec. myself, but most "in stock" have them.
-
^ah. What are the JP inlays like?
-
I like the Red or the Purple, but as they're not in your poll I'd have to go with the blue. I hate white/off-white and gold guitars. :)

I voted for buttercream. I think buttercream with an ebony fretboard and a distressed pair of pups would look awesome.
-
It's a hard decision to make sometimes (though sometimes seeing them in the flesh makes a vast difference).
I know the feeling regarding the case, I got a 'vintage' tolex case with my Ric cos I paid cash (it's something like $300 so you can guess the UK price (250 quid I believe)) and I have to say they are so much nicer than the ABS cases.
As for year based ltd edition colours, ric (for example) do 2005 custom colour for instruments ordered in 2005, therefore they are still producing the colour well into 2006 to fufill these orders so the guitar may still have been built this year if it was a late order.
The real question is what colour do you like best, and it also depends on what you already own after all you already have a nice shiny red ovation,
The carbon blue is nice but the photos may not be doing it justice to the rest of us (or perhaps just me), the purple is pretty nice too.

Yeah, I prefer the red pearl, but you didn't put it on the poll, so I'd say blue. I really love mystic dream, and if I ever get the money together for a JP 7 string, that's what I'll go for.
-
Well, decision has been made. I think my mind had been clouded by the nicer case with the Limited Buttercream. I reckon the Buttercream is a more "vintage look" and would serve well an perhaps a different guitar but believe this one will look best in a darker colour (oh lord, more fingerprints LOL).
That and er indoors prefers the blue. And keeping er indoors appy is ALWAYS a good thing :)
Also, can save enough with the blue to still purchase a GOOD tolex case if I want.
BTW Dave, JP inlays are like little stubby bullets. One on first fret has JP in it, others are smaller and look more like "stubby picks" to me but meant to be bullets?!?!?!
Anyway,
the winner is ................................................................
Carbon Blue Pearl!

Carbone Blue Pearl!
It still looks pretty (and probably even better in the flesh).
