Title: Pickup covers for Jim Root tele?
Post by: capac on April 04, 2017, 03:11:24 PM
Hi, so I picked up Fender Jim Root tele (white with ebony fretboard), and I like the guitar, but don't really like EMGs. They have a bit weird compression to them, so I want to swap them for passives.

I was thinking of getting aftermath bridge and probably neck, because I still like how tight and focused emg 81 is and I've read somewhere that aftermath is the pickup for that sort of things.

So, I was wondering what covers to order the pickups with. I'm open to suggestions ;), just say what do you think would look the best.

Oh, and please don't say different guitar :P.

Chrome radiator covers might look interesting, if not either black or chrome battleworn. In my opinion 'busy' looking cover might match well with plain looking guitar.

Black covers with black bolts would look sweet if you go with the AMs.

Black Hawks are another BKP that is aimed at those who like the EMG sound, but want the character and dynamics of a passive pickup. I don't have any experience with them or the AMs, just making you aware of another potential option.

Hmm... black covers with black bolts might actually look really nice. I don't really like black hawks based on clips I've heard.

I would go for black battleworn or black open coils here, with black bolts.
