Title: Cold Sweat set for Mahogany Strat?
Post by: Dave Simpson on April 09, 2017, 10:48:55 PM
I'm putting together a HH strat with a Cold Sweat set and Schaller P Megaswitch. Any other combinations I should try if this doesn't work out. Looking for something that can cover early metal to first four Metallica albums.

I suspect this CS & mahogany combo should work well.  I will be interested to read your report on the results.

The early Metallica albums had a scooped tone, so the CS could be just right.

Finally finished putting the guitar together and it sounds amazing. The Cold Sweat neck pickup is one of the best neck pickups I have ever heard. Thanks for all the replies, this pickup set seems to work great with this guitar.

How do you find Cold Sweat bridge? How would you describe it?

I`ve ordered CS/VHII set and will be putting it into very very similar guitar. Warmoth chambered Alder/Flame maple top with golcano alves (rosewood)/ rosewood neck Telecaster
cheers,

With the mahogany body it sounds really good. The low end is tight which is always one of my concerns. It's a little dark with this guitar, but that's not a bad thing. Easier to dial in a darker sounding guitar than trying to tame a too bright sounding guitar. Good harmonics, the mids are not overpowering. Overall very happy with this combo.
