I've always love that HM-2 buzzsaw tone, it sound immense when you just play a power chord with thet thing. but i hate that it doesn't have it can't do things that require bit more clarity.
I'm wondering if anyone has tried to replicate that HM-2 sound but with more clarity.

No. I do have a HM-2 but I treat it as a one trick pony.
The only cool tip I have discovered with these is that if you run the 9V cable from the power out of an LS-2, NS-2, or TU-3 (etc) you can run 9V straight into the old ACA type pedals without modding them

The HM-3 is my favourite stock pedal of that type. The MT-2 sounds very nice when you mod it.
However, neither of these options really has the HM-2 'rotten sound'. Like Dave says, it's a one trick pony.
Have a go with the HM-3 though maybe. It's based on the HM2 circuit and has more versatility, but be warned you can't get the HM2 sound out of it.

That sucks haha. my band wrote a song where we have this part where it's a like a fast note by note run and the rest of the part is just something simple. i find with hm-2 the simple part give's more in your face kinda sound. that buzzsaw tone really shines through in the simpler parts. it's only that on the more complex and so call "technical" guitar parts i can't use the hm-2. i wish there's something out there that have that buzzsaw tone and maintain that clarity tho

wish there's alternative that have that buzzsaw tone but with more clarity. my band wrote a song where the hm-2 shines on the simpler basic power chord parts and tremolo picking part. there's one where the guitar more complex where it could use bit more clarity.

I would just get a different distortion pedal and put it close to the HM-2 on your board so hat you can move between them quickly
Maybe something like an MXR MXR Custom Badass '78 Distortion?
