:?: Can you believe this?

I sure can. They have to reduce overcrowding in jails so that they have the space to house hardened criminals- you know the kind of thing, pensioners refusing to pay their council tax.
-
Or 10 year olds making racists comments
-
Why do the great british public just accept this bullshitee? In any other country... People here are letting the government screw them up the asshole, and they aren't doing anything about it.
-
it says stuff like arson as well!!!!!!??!?!?!?!??!?!
jeeeesus.... thats stupid...
i think people dont do anything because a lot of the time they dont know about stuff... like i had no idea about this even though i watch a fair bit of news e.t.c...... ridiculous

I dunno mate, but what i do know we have 3 more years of these clowns. We are so far down the plug hole we are entering the sewer. The question is when are we going to get out. Or are we? The british as a whole don't protest enough. We are getting taxed to death for these policys too. So where does all our money go?
-
The British civy has all the power in reality, and they readily put up with this shite, as if we are all in a coma. I would be down tomorrow in the city going absolutely insane and wreaking havok, and by right I'm not even a brit, but folk don't seem to give a shite... The people need to do something before it's too late, blair is going to continually shag up the country in his final days. WAKE UP

:D Sorry guys i don`t believe anything that`s in the Daily Mail !! I`ve heard nothing but utter F***ing cr@p from this extremley racist Xenophobic S**t paper for years & guess what ? Absolutley nothing has come true !!!
They then claim that it hasn`t happend because they publisised it !!! How conveneant that argument is !!
Worse still with out trying to offend anyone here i`ve allways tended to regard anyone who reads this S**t paper to have no brains at all & have a tendancy to let this S**t paper do THERE thinking for them !!!
I include my parents in this statement as well !!
If it`s in the papers it`s a pack of lies.....
:D 8)

I hope it's a pack of lies..

:D They ran a story that said that they were going to fit every single car with a "Black Box" computer so that it would be able to tell when you were driving that you`d broken the law ie Speed limits etc. Then the police would drive round streets with a wireless computer that would talk to the computer black box in your car & download all of your misdamenours so they could fine you !
This story was front page on the Sunday Times. I no because i read the article !
This is a complete scare story as is most of the S**t that that paper prints. Do you have any idea how much money this kind of idea would cost to implement !!!!!! to the nearest Billion. You`d have to put computers in every car , then you`d have to put transmitter computers in every lampost, phone box, advertising board, post box in the country so that they can broadcast the speed limits etc so that your computer would be able to recieve the info so that it could regester when you`d broken the law. Go on try to work out how much this would cost.
Utter, Utter F***ing cr@p !!! DON`T let other people especially the "News Papers" do your thinking for you.

LOL
Firstly, STOP making me excited to move back "home" :P
Secondly, I remember years ago (these things happen on "slow" news days btw) the "near miss plane story".
Basically a guy had set up a time lapse shot of the sky over the Thames, taking in Big Ben and all. The shot showed a sky FULL of commercial airplanes, OMG shock horror!
The general public then went hysterical talking about safety, near misses etc. etc.
Good god, Heathrow is the third busiest airport in the world and "stacks" planes over London to illicit safe and orderly landings.
Anyway, ALWAYS remember that one and the "cleverness" of the press telling a truth but FAR from the WHOLE truth.
Newspapers need to be more intelligent and accountable. There are alot of impressionable people who believe the cr@p they write ver batem!
Anyway, thanks for the glowing report of my "homeland" LOL
And as for "popular press" Just Say No!

ive actually stopped reading newspapers and watching the news, its all a load of bollocks. next time i hear any type scientific ramblings in the media i wanna publicly correct all the $%ers. the whole scare tactic method of journalism is so wrong.

People who watch a lot of news are actually less accurately informed about current events than people who watch no news at all and just let things filter down to them and make educated guesses about what they've heard. All news is slanted in order to promote certain opinions in the viewers. It's not a philanthropic public service any more than the banks are full of kind people who want you to be rich.

I shall refrain from further comment.

The ordinary working guy is a poor second class citizen these days, I'm sick and tired of reading this kind of cr@p, you get treated like a battery hen, (and no better thought of)... and you've got me ranting now! AAAAAARRRRGGGHHH!!!

:?: Can you believe this?
probably not if it was posted by the daily mail... :p:
seriously, though, if it's true, it sucks. Although I probably disagree with how the daily mail would rectify the situation (shoot all criminals and have more patriotic parades)

it says stuff like arson as well!!!!!!??!?!?!?!??!?!
there's far too much arson about...

Daily Mail = Culture Of Fear
Don't believe the lies!!!

Having the misfortune of working for a national newspaper I can assure you guys that at best 90% of reporters suffer from ritual self abuse.
If theyre not in the pub getting into a bad enough state to justify soiling their undergarments, they are carrying out acts of creative accounting on their expenses claims.
It's too expensive to employ proper journalists hence, the majority of newspaper stories are supplied by the Press Association, Reuters, Associated Press or the BBC. Why do you think all the papers carry the same stories. The job consists mostly of cutting & pasting from a browser to the Quark Xpress text box these days
BTW watch the Mail and Express drop a stories when it may affect one of their advertisers.
Me Bitter never !
Just think yourselves lucky there are still some papers left that actually have journalists these days (The Guardian for example).
Rob...

Well I take anything printed with a pinch of salt. I gotta admit, I trust the BBC more becuase it's publicly accountable, and there's that TV show where we can write in and tell it off etc. Although how much that actually tackles would be intresting to see.
And the Guardian seems good, although I'm suprised nobody's thought of printing broadsheets sideways on Tabloid paper yet...
I often flit through whatever paper's are on the table on my breaks at work, and I must say that the majority of what's printed is sensationalist cr@pola.

OK, I will now comment very briefly: Like all papers, the Guardian has an agenda which is fine if their agenda coincides with yours but always remember it will always slant it's stories to reinforce it's editorial stance. To my mind, people can read whatever they want and believe whatever they want-me, I am way too cynical to read any of them.As has been said, the news broadcasts are the best but even these can be carefully manipulated. We live in a era of smoke and mirrors, deceipt and corruption.

J.F.K, ahem LOL etc. etc.

+1.
The guardian is closest to my political ideals, but i know it's biased as hell, like any paper.
The whole stuff about them being very quiet on the tessa jowell matter is a distinct example of it, since she was friendly with the editor or something.
-
+1 on the Guardian but like anything, it ain't perfect. I would rather people read/digested The Guardian on a daily basis rather than the fear-mongering-rot churned out by the Sun, NOTW, Mail etc...
-
:D I like the majority get my news from the BBC [ TV ] I only read the cr@ploids for there football coverage, & most of that is rubbish as well !!

I don't always have time to read newspapers, but if I do I usually buy the Independent... though in reality, I'd read almost anything bar tabloids, and especially not the Daily Mail.
However, I read (many of, not all of) the online articles on BBC news and the Independent pretty much every day, and sometimes also read the Times online and even the Guardian online articles.
I think having only one source for news is a bad thing, but, so long as you're able to stay open minded and recognise all of the choice verbs+phrases designed to sway you a particular way, reading the news from several sources is definitely a good thing.
-
I found this story on the BBC website-they specifically mentioned the increase in cautions given to rapists rather than custodial sentences -so perhaps the point is that the original story is real enough but gets adjusted and exagerated to suit the agenda of the Daily Mail (or whatever paper you happen to be reading). I happened to pick up a colleague's Daily Mirror today-this thread having made me interested and like you guys have said, all nonsense and, to me, badly presented. As I did not read papers anyway it does not affect me thus vindicating the reason why I gave up on them years ago. It is not only the "rightist" papers that do it though. I do not put too much trust in the BBC either -The Government of the day tends to appoint the people that run it and however much the BBC claim impartiality, I have, shall we say, an open mind when I hear their reports-As I said before, I am very cynical due to the bitter experience of a good friend many years ago at the hands of the national newspapers.
-
The BBC seem like a mouth piece for our government to me. Way too biased and the PC nonsense is beyond belief according to one of their ex radio presenters.
As for the Guardian, like Mr 38th has already pointed out, it's edited to fit. Take a look at the jobs page in it and the Inde'. All these non jobs that you hear about seem to be advertised here. It conviniently fits in with New Labours ideas of employment for employments sake, which hike up taxes, which come in the form of stealth taxes mostly and council tax to pay for it all. Just so they can take us all for fools and say unemployment is down under new labour. Get a civil service job and they get a X on polling day. You should hear some of the jobs they read out from these adverts on Talk Sport! Nappy coordinator, 30k per annum etc. I rather read guitar mags!
