Well at this moment I am quite proud of myself.
A couple of weeks ago I got offered an endorsement by a amp company ( not going to disclose the name ). I must say, I cant say exactly how excited I was when i found out they had offered it to us ( this is for a band who isn't signed etc was quite a big deal for us ). So for a week or so I was on a complete buzz, completely forgetting that I didn't actually know the product at all, whether I would actually like it or not etc etc.
By coincidence i read another thread on a forum concerning endorsements and peoples different views on whether it mattered or not if you actually like the product. After deciding i was one of the people who cares what I endorsed I decided to let the opportunity pass. The only good thing that would of come from this would of been more exposure for my band ( www.myspace.com/thesafetyfire haha ) but I have also come to the conclusion that if we got this offer I'm sure we could get it from someone who we want to be endorsed by.
Sometimes i double think what ive done, but in the end im happy with my decsion! :D

I thought you said you liked those amps though? Oh well at least you didnt sell out and go with something you dont like just to get your band some exposure!

^you rule, if more bands/people were like you, we wouldn't have zakk wylde signature speakers etc..
Cheers!

LOL
Wait...did you try the amps or not before refusing!? if not you suck

Great stuff- stick to your principles-always pays off in the end. Hey, I have designed a new type of pick holder- if you endorse it we can both be rich.
-
Dude 100% respect for what you decided to do. I know its hard to make a living in music and many artists will endorse anything for that few extra quid, the worst one is George Lynch he never plays any of the shite he endorses and it all costs a silly ammount.

Good call.................BKP don't endorse anyone, we have an active user list but all the artists have to buy their pickups same as everyone else.If they're paid for, they're used simple as that and I make a point of never approaching anyone cap in hand.

Cheers guys. I really appreciate the support, and am glad people have the same morals as me.
Indy to answer your question, they are a US manufacteur, we would of been the first UK endorsee's. There is no distribution in the UK for that amp. I would of been taking it blind folded.

Hope this decision allows you get a sponsorship that you do want.

+1 FOR WHAT TIM SAID
I know bands that would add a 3rd guitarist if it meant that they could get extra endorsements - it starts to mean less and less.
We are happy to work WITH up and coming artists and also those in the limelight but it is a 2 way street and based on a genuine love for the product

So you guys don't provide free pickups to steve stevens or geoff whitehorn? I had a feeling you did, and that they were real endorsees, but as time go on, and the bkp company grows, do you think that will change? It's evident that the success of dimarzio and seymour duncan obviously has a lot to do with their endorsees.

why should people who make enough money anyway get things for free?.
I agree with paying full price, if i can afford to buy some BKP's so could a guitarist in a big band.
anyway well done for turning down an endorsement deal, i recently got offered to join a signed band who are doing a uk/euro tour this summer but turned them down as I believe my own band is worth the effort, i know one day i'll so regret that but it's a choice of integrity not sense :P

yup im with you on that one mate.

They don't just get stuff for free, they get paid too, and rightly so, and also, they often do not make "enough money" at all. If you were a popular artists using BKP, your use of them would only go towards making BKP more money, and knowing this, you would willingly buy the pickups? I'm sorry, but that is not how things work, if I scratch someone's back, I want mine scratched too. I would want free pickups, and a nice contract, because there's no way I would let someone else make money off my back while I get nothing in return. You have to understand that if an artist using a product is making a company money, they should absolutely be getting the stuff for free, and being paid too.
