Title: Pickups for PRS CU22
Post by: Cyril M on April 11, 2006, 07:48:45 PM
I'd like to change my Dragons II on my PRS CU22

I'd like a modern, powerfull sound but I also want to play a kinda Jazz clean sound
I don't think the mule can fit my taste
I was thinking about a Miracle man or Nailbomb  :?:

To you think I can get an "eq chart" of BareKnuckle pickups ?

Thanks

Welcome. There will be a lot of new technical info when the new site comes on line, which I think is slated for the summer.

PhilKing, who is on this forum, put a Rebel Yell set in his PRS and I've played it extensively. I think that it will do what you want.

If you're really set on using a ceramic pickup, I can recommend the Cold Sweat.

EQ charts are on their way although you have to bare in mind that the body timber/construction plays an element in the perceived p/up EQ curve too so only use them as a ballpark guide.
The Nailbomb is capable of a great driven tone and is fat enough for jazz clean tones too.........the Miracle Man will get you a mean driven bridge tone while the MM neck with it's Alnico V is lovely and fat.

Oops ... well, there ya go, straight from the horse's mouth! (Opposed to the other end of the horse!)

I've only used my Miracle Man for metal, so I admit that I'm biased on that one!!

I'm not sure which Rebel Yell Phil has, if it's the new one then I'd recommend it. Very versatile, as is the Nailbomb but the Nailbomb is a little more aggressive and has more highs.

You can mix and match, you could have a Nailbomb neck in the neck pos with a different pup in the bridge - remember that Tim has spent time voicing the bridge and neck sets to work well and compliment each other!

Hi Hayden, my Rebel Yells were fresh at Music Live, as far I know they are the same as the production ones.

What are the differences between Miracle man and Nailbomb ?
to fit a mahogany body/neck (prs)
which one could be the best choice ?
(stupid question I think, it depends on my taste...)

I would think that both work very well...they're both great p/ups! The miracle man has a touch more gain and has a tighter bass with less mids. The Nailbomb has boosted mids (not extreme...that's the upcoming Painkiller) and also has a really good clean tone and (arguably) a more aggressive driven tone. Both of them would work great in a mahogany guitar. I have a mahogany Schecter C-1 classic and chose the Nailbombs. I just wanted a high-gain pickup with all around tone. My next set WILL be a set of Miracle Men, though.

Thanks  Downrodeo
I think I'll choose the Nailbmomb :D
I play a rectoverb and it's easy to become muddy with less mids
