Hi,
I'm looking for a pickup replacement for my PRS 30th Anniversary Custom 24.
Basically, I absolutely love the guitar, but find the pickups to be kind of muffled and a little too aggressive and compressed.
I also find their volume to be too high, they seem to overwhelm the preamp of anything I plug them into.
I'm looking for something to make the PRS more open and clear. I typically play through the Fender amps, (or a Fender voiced Helix). My other guitar is a Nitro Fender Strat with Kinman Woodstock Plus pickups and I really enjoy its sound, I'm happy to get something a little fuller out of the PRS, but I'd like to approach that single coil territory, especially in the neck.
I'm looking at the Mules, VH-IIs and Emeralds, any advice or input on which, or volume and tone pot modifications as well, would be greatly appreciated. I play anything from Jazz/Neo Soul to heavy pop-rock, I’m not into blues or metal, so stuff I like the sound of is:

You can play everything with Mules, and they do a terrific job when it comes to clean and breakup sounds. Round yet with sparkle, detailed, dynamic, balanced, it's a great 59 PAF-copy. I'm always surprised how well they can handle loads of gain too.

Thanks,
Yeah the mules are definitely what I'm leaning towards, I like their output and their clean qualities. If they overdrive well too then that sounds great.

The Emeralds are probably too hot for your needs
