Title: Pickups for Gibson LP standard - tight metal
Post by: evenfell on December 07, 2017, 12:43:08 PM
Hey
I am thinking of changing pups in my new Gibson LP standard 2011
It came with Burstbucker pro, but they are to weak and not articulate enough

I have tried to read about what I want, but cant really find it.
So I hope you guys can help.
I usually play through a JVM 410 or a Mesa Dual rec boosted with a treble booster

What I want is:
Bridge: Low growl, popping harmonics and drumlike rhytm licks.
I tried my friends Duncan dimebucker in an SG, and thats pretty much nailed the tone I am after, but its to trebly
So do bareknuckle have anything like this with more growl and deep rhytm when needed
Miracle man?

Neck:
Open for suggestions here. I want this one to have leads like slash or similar.
Stormy MondaY?

Thanks

Sounds more like alnico Nailbomb, perhaps paired with a Emerald-neck. But I would inspect the modern Juggernaut-bridge too.

I'd go with something ceramic in the bridge...

Smooth treble and growly, thick mids and low mids?  Tight?  Try a Juggernaut bridge.

What is your tuning / string weight?

The Alnico Nailbomb is great but I'm not sure if it will sound as phat as you want.  The A-Bomb is more balanced and it has warm highs.

Thanks for the answer.
I usually have daddario strings 10-52 in E tuning. Sometimes drop D
Ill check juggernaut

MIracle man maybe?

I was thinking of that, but is it comparable to EMG81? or more deep/growl when needed?
Cause I dont like EMG at all, to sterile

To me the Miracle Man doesn't sound like an EMG at all.

Another pickup you could consider is the Cold Sweat but the Miracle Man has more bottom end
