Hey guys I recently purchased a Chapman ML3 Bea Baritone but i'm finding the stock bridge pickup a little muddy. Any advice on what to replace it with?
I love the idea of the Impulse, im just worried it wont be powerful enough to cut through the very heavy strings 12-68 (I think). The body is Alder with a Flame maple top and a bolt on Padouk neck.
I play alot of melodeath Inlames etc and opeth type weird prog stuff with cleans. The mini rail in the front is really nice but might replace that too at a later stage.
I am aware the Juggernauts and the Ragnaroks are great pickups but i'm not really a Djent player, I just want some clarity and some tightness in the low end.
Will the Alnicos give me enough power in the impulse to cut through (because i do love my Nailbombs) or will I need higher output Ceramics like the aforementioned Juggs and Rags?
Thanks alot in advance! Been a long time since I was on this forum!

Josh actually uses 82 or something crazy like that, so I don't think tha would be a problem. I don't think you need reaĺly high output.

82!!! really? yeah I checked the power of the Henchman pickup and it's 18K so you must be right.

I’m interested in this topic as well. I plan to eventually do a baritone. I really like the swampy sound in the Impulse low gain OD sound clip. From what I’ve read, you don’t want a really high output pickup for baritones because the strings have so much mass. I’ve read in several threads Tim highly recommends the Black Dog in baritones, and I believe he recorded with a Black Dog loaded baritone.

The stock pickup was inspired by warpig and prs hfs I think. It's just his preference.
