Okay, so I have a PRS SE 277 Semihollow. It had the stock P90s, which I liked tone-wise, but they didn't have enough output.
I went onto installing an EMG 81/60 set, which was a step in the right direction. But after a few months, I feel like the 81 is a bit TOO much. Too much output and too much midrange. I felt like I was missing some high end sparkle and some very low end thump. So, I tried swapping the 81 for the 60 in the bridge, and that was even closer to what I want. The low end wasn't tight enough, and I felt like it was a bit TOO much high end.
From what I can tell, this guitar has a LOT of midrange growl. Like, an insane amount.
So, now what I'm looking for is something to remedy the problems. I'm looking for a P90/soapbar with a somewhat beefy but still tight low end, a more scooped midrange, a cutting high-midrange/treble response, and some sparkle in the extreme high end, but not overbearing and twangy. Also need something that's about medium-high output, and not extremely overbearing like the 81.
Anything you guys can recommend me? Thanks. :D

Yeah, that was the first pickup I was gonna check out.
It seems like it would have the deep bass, but it seems to have a lot of midrange, not as much high end, and a LOT of output. Seems like it wouldn't suit this guitar for what I want.

What about 85? Npt my thing personally, but some people prefer it to 81 in the bridge.

I know a guy whos played the standard warpig. he said its very bright in the treble. Super hot, so maybe not ur bag then...stockholms maybe?

Aaah, well the treble part sounds good. But yeah, worried about the output. Do the stockholms retain that deep and tight sound while still having a good, bright top end?

Tried the 85. Still midrangey like the 81, but has TONS more low end and output.

It would look at the Supermassive, although in a midrangy guitar like yours I would go Nantucket.

I might end up trying the Supermassives. I played the 277 with the 60 in the bridge a little more. It's so close to being perfect. Plenty of midrange and low end, but christ almighty there's WAY too much treble. I feel like the Supermassive might be perfect EQ wise now that I've had time to mess with the 60 more.
