Title: Neck pickup question
Post by: djpatb on March 02, 2018, 04:29:20 PM
Compared to a Cold Sweat neck (in a Les Paul)...what would have the same level of heat, with a little bit more mids, and a little bit less bass?
Thanks.

I think the Emerald-neck has a bit more mids going. Sounds also a tad more vintage than the CS.

That's exactly the direction I'm leaning. Thanks!

holy diver? or maybe the rebel yell?

the neck emerald sounds more like a mule/nailbomb hybrid

I haven't tried the Rebel Yell neck yet, but I wasn't a fan of the Diver neck with gain in a Les Paul.
Compared to the CS neck, it felt like I had to work harder to play the HD neck, if that makes sense. And I thought it sounded hollower. Where the CS neck played/felt smoother and sounded fuller. Emerald neck is next on my list to try...maybe RY neck after that.

I put an Emerald set in a friend's Les Paul and I really love the fluid tones on the neck pickup.  Great pickup if you do a lot of bending and wide vibrato with the neck pickup

Awesome. Thanks. I'll report back when I try an Emerald neck.
