				new guitar means new pickup!

 specs:
 black limba body
5 piece black/white limba neck through
 poplar burl top
 ebony board
 stainless frets
 25.5" scale
 10-68 strings
 drop a tuning

tp my ears, the guitar seems to have a middle-midrange centered sound with pretty quick bass response and decently snappy treble but not  bright like ash can be. it sounds like a birghter mahogany more or less. at least to me anyway.

currently has a guitarnory atlas in it which sounds good but doesnt really grind the way I want it to. It takes too much gain in order to get the saturation i want which results in a lack of clarity to my ears.

i want something really angry sounding with fast low end response and good string separation/clarity but not something that would be considered "dry"-i dont djent.

nailbomb, ragnarok, or warpig im thinking

Though your guitar is a shorter scale you have SS frets which give an extra weird trebblish response. I have a couple with it, and I understand what you say about the brighter mahogany. Furthermore, my axe is 27' so I had the Cbomb first. Terrible pickup in my guitar, worst solos, run from it.

Now I have the warpig and I'm a lot happier though it is still brighter than I'd like (because I play through a 5150 III, which is very trebble-oriented). I'm curious about the ragnarok too.

Thanks for the replies. I am surprised to see a lot of darker pickup suggestions! I was kind of thinking a painkiller, honestly. Thoughts? I would already have a ragnarok but I’m nervous it’ll be a little too dark. The c-pig does give me pause though. I have an a-pig in an epiphone and I like it but it’s definitely not a bright pickup with a pretty loose low end. Is the ceramic version much tighter/brighter? What about the painkiller?

I dont think the ragnarok is that dark. I have a friend who owns a ragnarok (replaced a painkiller) and he says its the best pickup he's ever played. Hes currently in a death metal band. He tried the c-pig and said it was too bright for his taste. Id run as fast as you can away from the painkiller...u said u dont want a dry pickup and the pk is really dry

I'm wondering if an A-Hawk or Impulse might be the best choice.  They are both great metal pickups, not just djent

I'd contact BKP to get their opinion

Ragnarok would be a great option. Very versatile pickup. It's what I'm planning on going with for mine
