Hi all, thought you might be interested in this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Carver
Check the stuff under the 'Controversy' heading.....basically he invented a way to copy the sound exactly of any audio amp using a completely different, and much cheaper, basic circuit. Pretty amazing I reckon - and it makes me wonder why on earth Line 6 and the like aren't using this mysterious technique to model amps????

One more interesting read on the real differences between audio cables:

Probably won't be changing my amp's speaker cable any time soon then..!

Here's another, 'Science and Subjectivism in Audio', also interesting IMO.

BTW I can't believe I'm still on here at 1.15am........proper dedication that is :!:

I still use Carver TFM amps in my stereo - they have the best sound for non valve amps. At one point I was bi-amping with my TFM15D (300w bridged) for bass and Quicksilver 90W KT90 monoblocks for treble, but it was really too much! I just use the Quicksilvers now.
I also use Carver Tube CD players from the early 90's - they have an excellent sound too.
