What singles you reckon?
Clean, hollow, bright, rich and punchy. Not piercing or thin. Not too fat or warm.
I love Gilmore but ooen to lots of other sound samoles that inspire you.
89 Japanese strat 50s reissue
Also can any body tell me if any fender pick guard will fit a japanese 50s reissue?

Irish Tours? The Slowhands are an option too, but yeah fat for a single coil.

Telerocker knows his stuff when it comes to single coils.
As far as the pickguard is concerned, any half-decent luthier could make a new one from a blank if you provide your current pickguard as a template. How much they charge probably depends on how much they like you.

Pickguards depends on the amount of screwholes. Most replacements will fit.

Cheers guys.
I have an Irish tour Mid on an RG550 and I rather like it!
I think the pups on this are ceramic. they have black blocks on the bottom of the plate.
Heres the lady herself all bejewelled in red tortoise.

That's a nice colorscheme, I would say a bit like a Suhr Scott Henderson. The stockpickups are most likely ceramics.
The question is, what kind of music you want to play with the strat. I heard a Gray telecaster model (English brand, handmade guitars) with a BKP Cobra T in the bridge and that one sounded really good.
-
You know i think the stock pick ups are great so far. I would only change them for the same but with extra harmonic over tones, richness etc
I like clean gilmour, hendrix, nile rodgers etc
I A B the middle with my irish tour middle in my Rg550 and much prefered the stock.
They have i think and amost scooped sound in comparison to the IT mid i thought i heard (correct me if wrong)
-
You might like the Cobras.
But if you like the stock pickups, why change?
-
You know i really do like the stock a lot but they get real muddy when rolling off. What treble bleed do you recommend?

I just got some generic one from Australian Luthiers Supplies for $10. Seems to do the trick for my Black Hawk guitar. I'm sure that it doesn't need to be something special. This one was ceramic I think
