Title: Single coils to compliment PG Blues bridge humbucker
Post by: 2112kevcleat on June 10, 2018, 09:29:57 PM
Hi.

I’m new to this forum.

I have a Fender Custom Shop Journeyman Strat. I believe the body is Ash and it has a big neck with a Rosewood board.
It came with an SD 59 and Ancho Poblano single coils.
I have changed the SD for a PG Blues. However due to some wiring oddities, I was going to put some BKP single coils in.
I’m looking for that fat rock single coil sound. Thinking Mike McCready Strat territory.

Many Thanks.

Kev.

Hi, welcome!
I'd say your choice will probably come down to the Irish Tours or the Slowhands, with the difference really being in the mids - the Irish Tour middle and neck position coils have a classic woody strat tone (more scooped in the midrange) with a hotter output, where the the Slowhands have much more forward mids that make them more vocal for lead work but give less woodiness/percussiveness.

Thanks for the reply.
From what I have read up on it looked like it might be the best fit.

Thanks for the insight.

I think the IT's will be a better match to the output of the PG Blues.
