I want to get rid of the stock pickups on my FR1620. It's an ash body/bolt-on neck guitar and I'm looking for something big, punchy, articulate and clear sounding. I mostly play heavy stuff on this one and my main amp is a Mesa Boogie Roadster which is a quite dark and loose sounding amp. I generally boost it with an OD. Any recommandation guys?
Thanks!

Hi and welcome!
Can you perhaps let us know what you don't like about the stock pickups, and also when you say "heavy stuff" whether you need something that sounds huge for chordal work, or a pickup that stays as tight as possible on palm mutes etc?

Thanks! The stock pickups are not bad at all but they don't wow me either. They sound very dull. I usually install BK pickups on almost every new guitar I buy anyway. There is just something about them that I like a lot, clarity I guess. This guitar will be in drop C and my main amp is a Mesa Roadster so I need a tight and clear pickup. I really need to achieve those chunky but articulate chords and also be able to get a good lead sound. Tightness yes but not djent-tight. I also have an RGA121 with Juggs and I find it a bit too warm sounding and not defined enough for chordal work. It sounds amazing for leads though!
Cheers!

Sounds a bit like the Impulse would suit you
