Thinking of getting some Stormy Mondays for my Ibanez semi-hollow to get a 335 vibe from it. Came stock with some ceramic pickups which were fine, but I wanted something warmer, so I got some GFS alnico 5 humbuckers but they were way too warm. Thinking of going with unpotted, uncovered pickups for maximum "openness". I prefer the look of covered but in the video Nolly did comparing covered and uncovered the difference was pretty noticeable to my ear with the uncovered sounding clearer and more open.

Don't go unpotted if you play live, but uncovered is fine. The Stormy's are a set I've got my eye on!

If you use quite some gain and volume on stage, I would pick potted Stormy's. Unless you like to squeal. Uncovered sounds a tad more open than covered.

I agree with the others. Definitely go potted unless you can always play it in a room isolated from the amplifier.

Just pulled the trigger on a set. Still going with uncovered, but potted. I'll report back once they arrive in a few weeks after I've had a chance to try them out.

Just got my set installed. I finally get what people mean when they say something is "responsive". I have never played pickups that were this responsive to every little thing I do with my picking hand. I have an almost uncanny amount of control over the sound. I can go from gentle, warm, almost clean tones to in your face biting distortion without touching a single knob. Very cool.

Good to hear you like them. I had the same experience when I got my Mules.
