Hey guys, so I have an esquire with the eldred mod, alder with maple neck/board.
Had the piledriver in it for years and I like that it is thicker sounding for chords and leads but I find it a little to Ott with output when going between that and my mule loaded les Paul's. So I want a thick tele bridge pickup that has some meat for rock and blues still keeps tele character (don't want stacked pup) gives out about the same volume output as the mules and sounds more towards the vintage tones than the piledriver
Was thinking maybe the black guard 50 but worried still maybe too hot?
Here's what comes up for ideas when googled, any opinions?
Bare knuckle black guard 50
Bare knuckle yardbird
Bare knuckle boss

Depending on your guitar BG50 or BG52 (a bit brighter and less output than the 50). Both are genuine fifties telepickups, so rounder (less icepick) but still some twang available. Both pickups can really rock. Use the toneknob to tame the topend if necessary.

BG 50 is the best tele bridge pickup I’ve ever used. I think tele rocker is right... if you like the treble focused character of the PD, the ‘52 is a good bet. I prefer the more balanced (and less treble focused) ‘50. Honestly the ‘52 and later tele bridge pickups cause me to have ear pain and emotional pain because they are too bright for my tastes. So pick your poison, each are outstanding.

Spooky
I just came in here to chat about swapping out my Piledriver set in my tele for something less hot.
My question seems to have been answered without having to ask the question
