Took me a hell of a long time to find one, but I finally managed to snag a late 80s Rivera TBR-1SL, same as Jason Bieler of Saigon Kick and similar, but more tweakable than the M100s that were used on Skid Row's Slave To The Grind. Those were some of my favorite tones growing up, and Jason's tone on The Lizard is everything Dime's tone should've been. Now that I have the beast, I need to ditch the EMGs in my RR and find a better setup.
I'm running a neck thru pro RRMG, and I really want to get those kind of Alexi Laiho/Chuck Schuldiner/Jason Bieler kind of harmonics. For some reason, since switching to this tube monster from my little Marshall MG15msii mini half stack, I'm struggling to get the harmonics to pop like I did before, and the gain overall is sounding pretty muddy, even though theres no shortage of it. I want to ditch the actives, for one, and I want to find something that'll sit well with the gain boost preamp like Alexi uses in his axes, since I plan on slamming one of those bad boys in there, but I dont care too much for the HZ overall. Granted, I need to acquire a cab worthy of the Rivera rather than robbing the one from my mini stack with an unbranded 10", but that cant be 100% of the issue, can it?
And if anyone has suggestions for pedals or rack effects that'll help smooth out the tone, have at it. I know Jason used a DS-1, reportedly as a clean boost, to help, but I'd also like to expand my sounds beyond the most basic Boss pedals.
So I guess I'm looking for the pups and any effects to help in this area. Someone suggested the Miracle Man set previously, but I am not sure how well they'd pair with the MM-04 boost (Alexi sig). Let me know what you guys think!
Thanks!

One-piece maple neck through most people would recommend a Miracle Man.
Other pickups that could work well in this guitar for these sounds are the Ragnarok and the Black Hawk.
Either would probably work okay with the boost switch if you are just using that for solos.

I'd go for a cold sweat set
maybe ceramic blackhawk if you really wanna keep a more compressed type of tone
