I was assuming that, basically, the horns are there to look cool. 8)  But whatever effect they may have on the sound, they certainly look cool. :)

Well bass rigs sometimes have horns, albeit not brass ones.

........... they look like cut down trombone bells to me.

Would be interesting to hear what they sound like
