Title: Base plates and repair costs

Hi everyone -

I'm looking at what the seller says is a set of Black Dog pickups.  He said they came from a Mayones and that the base plates were changed for that guitar.

These would be going in a Les Paul.

I have two questions.

Is there a way to tell that these pickups are genuine Bare Knuckle Black Dogs without the proper plates?
Can I send them in to have the plates replaced and the leads swapped from 4-conductor to braided 2?
