We can now offer humbucker size P90's. under the cover is an actual P90 bobbin cut down to size, with two flanking magnets just like the full size model.
-
That's very nice. In fact, I was just thinking about something like that today. In the (far but hopefully near) future I'm gonna be looking for a gothic explorer. I'm want to put on a black powder coated diamond plate pickguard and put in my Warpig in the bridge. For the neck pickup I was thinking about a Pig-90 in a humbucker housing.
-
Watch this space-we're going to be developing the Pig 90 idea
-
Nice, reminds me of my soon to be replaced Phat Cat - wqs going to go for the Emerald in the bridge of my Strat (currently have an SD Antiquity in the neck and a Texas Special in the bridge), but the Cold Sweat has got me in a sweat! Hmmm! :)
-
Ah, that's gonna make getting a guitar with soapbar style pickups so very, very much easier!
-
I can't wait to get mine :P
-
that is your's Phil!

Hi Steve, it arrived last night. I will be fitting it this weekend. It looks even better than the picture :D
-
So, what does one of these cost then?
I might be interested in a HB-sized P-90 with chrome cover myself... :?:
-
We do these for £99 in chrome covers.
-
Is it available in black plastic - or is it chrome only
By the way the Pups on my Esprit are slightly odd stock 80s Schaller ones measuring approx 79mm x 35mm with 3 screws - It may be dumb but can BKP makes P90s and h/b's that fit this measurement?
-
Chrome , nickel and gold only.
We don't do custom sizes but could rewind yours as long as they haven't been epoxyed into the covers.
-
Cheers for the reply - looks like I will have to get a tech to make the holes bigger - not that I care, as I want BKPs in my tone machine.
By the way what would go with a HB sized BKP90 in the neck? Classic PAF tone, lowish power please SM, Mule or BD?

Maybe a Riff Raff or an emerald. Mule would be good but has a higher output.
Emerald + BKP90 = Ultimate blues axe?
-
Emerald is higher output than a Mule so I'g go for a Mule for that classic PAf tone with a humbucking P90 in the neck-lovely :D
-
Funny, the Mule sounds so much friggin' louder in the soundclips. Or is that because of the amp you're using, Tim?
-
No,it's just the way they've been recorded. Remember, a lower output pickup will compress the front of the amp less and sound bigger to a certain extent.
-
The HB sized P-90 is loud! It is louder than my mini-Mule, even though the mini-Mule is in the neck position and the P-90 in the bridge. However the tone is briliant so I am quite happy to live with the extra volume! Perhaps I should have gone for alnico V in the min-Mule (I think mine has IV's), but I never expected so much sound from an 8K P-90.
It is also pretty quiet until the gain is turned up. I guess the metal cover makes a kind of Faraday box for the pickup and helps cut down the hum.
The coil tap changes the voicing more than the volume. It gets less mids and a brighter tone on the tap.

I put the tap in at 1500 turns from the end of the coil so what you're hearing is stock at the tap and overwind on full. A typical overwind brings the mids up and the highs back in equal percentages.
The reason the P90 is SO pokey is there's 2 vintage cut Alnico Vs in there as opposed to a single much smaller Alnico IV in the Mini Mule.
Any chance of some clips? :D
