Title: Apaches custom wind with A5? or Mothers Milk?
Post by: zerorez on October 25, 2019, 12:46:25 AM
Hello all, looking to find out what Apaches with a custom A5 wind, would roughly spec out at DC wise?

Looking to upgrade my 10 year old k-line partscaster with alder body and 9.5 22 fret rosewood board maple neck to vintage BK's

When playing clean and blues type music, I would like to get the killer 2/4 position quack like some of the earlier Robert Cray music and Buddy Guy.

For heavy Blues/Rock I would go for more of a Robin Trower type sound from the live 76 lp.

I have heard that BK will  do a custom wind on Apaches with A5's and the formvar wire, open to all suggestions! Cheers

BKP haven't done custom winds for years now, I'm afraid - they just don't have the capacity with more than 100 sets going out a week! Drop the team an email to check there's nothing in the range that won't suit your needs; otherwise you'd probably need to look at smaller winders who can do custom orders.

I would put an Irish Tour with baseplate in the bridge and choose Pat Pend Veneer Board 63 for middle and neck.
