Title: Bridge HB for Doom/Death
Post by: bmnathe on October 30, 2019, 07:29:41 PM
Hi,

I have a Carvin CT3m (mahog body and neck, 25' scale) and run through a couple of boosters, through a RAT, and into a clean amp.  I like my cleans to be sweet and a bit gainy (using a Klon) and the dirts to be huge, roaring, grindy, articulate, etc.

I've had a warpig (too bassy), a holydiver (too rounded on top end), and currently have a black dog, which is the best so far but it is too nasally.  I like the vintage or vintage hot offerings the best for openness; does anyone have suggestion(s) for a bridge that is similar to the black dog but with less low mids?

Forgot to add that I tune to A standard.

I'm thinking Emerald. Has a moderate low end, enough high mids and present topend.

I have the alnico Black Hawk in my two 25.5" scale Schecters tuned to C standard.  Both of them also have the matching neck pickup.

I use them for a kind of blackened doom metal

I don't use a RAT or anything like that.  Through a clean boost into the crunch channel of a Peavey JSX.  I use the lead channel for leads.

I agree the warpig is pretty bassy.

How does the mule do with lower tuning and distortion?

Mule is fine with distortion but might get a bit flubby in the low end down that low. I'd recommend the Emeralds as the best vintage hot bet if you're finding the Black Dog too nasal. Really rich harmonics, lots of airy presence and a tight bass.

I'm in love with the Alnico Nailbombs . I have 2 sets, one in a bartione guitar and the other in a 7 strings guitar.
Both tuned down to B. I love these. I play also doom metal stuff, and these handle it very well!

I can vouch for the alnico NB.  Before I got the BH Schecter an Explorer with an A-Bomb was my #1 guitar.  Tuned to C
