LEDs to light up your pickups.

Don't know what to think of this mod:

I think it would be nice if they would glow more and less depending on your play, like the noise reduction light bulb on the univalve.

On an all black SG those orangey LED would look evil    - especially behind some Warpigs

Wouldn't LEDs add an insane amount of buzz to the signal coming from the pickups? :P

Move your gear towards a [turned on] light and you'll find out.

Liights make pickups buzz, and if the LEDs were directly under the pickups the noise would probably be horrendous. There's a guitar out with lights under the frets, the idea being that you can learn scales and chords with ease because the appropriate markers light up via software. Great idea, but every review I've read says that there is a lot of noise when the lights are switched on. So I'm guessing it'd be the same here. Only worse :P.

Many "custom" luthiers have put LEDs along the fretboard (more as gimick I reckon).
Thing is we are talking about frequencies and LED's do not have same characteristics as incandecant lighting.
Now I would have to look my books up to see what total effect would be but I know that an LED will have WAY less effect than your house lights (especially the flouro tubes which have the starter in them making it MUCH worse).

Think about it, diodes are in guitars anyway and LED are Light Emitting Diodes.

hmmm yeah i was thinking that.... cause like you said normal lights are completely different to LED's.... good work i spose.... but then im sure you could cancel all the noise somehow anyway...

Two different concepts totally.

About as similar as Halogen lamps and fireflys.
