Greetings,
I'm kicking around the idea of Mayones build in the near future, and I know I want BKPs in it. But, I don't know which ones.... Here are the proposed specs on the build:
- Regius Core Classic 6
- Swamp Ash body wings
- Flame maple top
- 11-ply Wenge / Mahogany / Padouk / Maple neck
I LOVE the sound of the Aftermaths in the PRS, but I'm worried that Aftermaths in a swamp ash guitar is going to be too ice-picky in the high end. Any suggestion for a very similar pickup but slightly tamer in the high end to compensate for the ash (versus the mahogany body on the PRS)?

Depends what sounds you're after really. I assume from the Aftermath, that you are more into metal.
What bands or songs do you want to sound like?

Considering the timbers and construction I would say Miracle Man.

Good point... I'm definitely into metal, and a pickup set that can handle that well is definitely the preference.
Specifically, I like a throaty powerful bridge humbucker. The guitar will be tuned CGCFAD, so the pickup should also be adept at handling lower tunings. I almost never play clean on the bridge humbucker, so that doesn't need to be considered, but I love a low gain split sound combined with the split neck humbucker. For the neck, honestly, I prefer a single coil (without the noise). Something glassy and articulate with lots of dynamics. Ideally such a neck humbucker would pair nicely with the beast in the bridge; i.e., no major volume drop from bridge to neck.
Finally, the plan is to have a 5-way super switch, so split coil sounds are key, too.

Yeah I'd say a Miracle Man set with a coil split for the neck

MM has output enough for a powerful splitted sound.
