Title: Tele neck to pair with a Riff Raff?
Post by: h8erade on July 21, 2020, 07:39:51 PM
So I'm looking to replace the pickups in my Ibanez EH10 which has a humbucker in the bridge and a tele neck. I decided on a Riff Raff for the bridge, but I'm having trouble deciding on a neck pickup. I was looking at the Yardbird neck, but I'm worried that it might not be hot enough to pair with the humbucker.

I want this guitar to be able to do cleans up to mid-gain stuff, so basically jazz to classic rock.

Any advice?

I think there will be no mismatch. The RiffRaff is not particularly hot (present yes..). Don't judge on the dc-resistance alone, a neckpickup does not need to be that hot as the bridge, due to it's position it will be loud enough.

I was just wondering why not a Mule, since the Yardbird-neck has a AIV-magnet too.

I must say the EH10 is a nice modern take on the classic tele-design. But apparently you don't like the Duncans.

I liked the samples I found for the Riff Raff more than the Mule...and I also found a better price

it's not that the Duncan's are bad per se, I just didn't vibe too well with the Hyperion in the bridge. It just didn't feel right no matter how I tried to adjust it.

and then I figured if I'm going to change one pickup, I might as well change the other, but the A2 Pro neck is actually pretty nice
