Anyone tried a Rebel Yell set in a guitar other than a Les Paul or similar? What were the results?
I’m about to have a Schecter tele shaped pt hybrid hellraiser delivered which is a maple neck set through a mahogany body with a maple top, and a hipshot hardtail bridge. I have a Rebel Yell set on the way taking foreverrrrrr in the mail that was originally for a Les Paul copy but I stuck a used VHII set in that one and I’m pretty happy with the result. I have a bright and articulate Les Paul copy now.

I got my RY's on Tim's recommendation to replace the 490/498 set (horrible) in a Gibson Firebird Studio. A Firebird in shape only - all mahogany, set neck and two full size humbuckers. I did a gig playing this guitar through a Cornford Roadhouse combo. After we soundchecked the sound guy who was very experienced beckoned me to the edge of the stage and said I had the best live sound he'd ever heard and told me to never change anything.
Naturally I ignored him. Sold the guitar and amp and got a different set up. I bought a PRS S2 Singlecut (2016 model) and transferred the RY's into that guitar before selling the Firebird. The RY's sounded tremendous in the Firebird but I think they sound better in the PRS but I'm not playing through the same amp. I wish I could re-visit my old sound and compare the two.

What did the Hellraiser have in it? EMGs? Rebel Yells should replace those pretty well, as EMGs are bright.

I think the Rebel Yell has a very dominant character and won't sound much different in anything

Putting the Rebel Yell in a warm and dark guitar is a thing of beauty! When the guitar fills in the lows and low mids, this pickup sounds absolutely massive!

I have Mules in a all mahogany Saint Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster, now I am tempted to try a RY-set in it. But hell, those Mules sound very nice too.

Hi guys, just wanted to give an update. The RY bridge is amazing. Just amazing. Perfect. Sounds good through a ton of different amp sims too. The aftermath neck I put in there is great too. I’m probably going to put a RY in another guitar I have that needs PU replacements as well, it’s a neck through Carvin ST300, all mahogany with a couple of what look like maple stripes in the neck.

I just put a RY in my Jackson Kevin Bond Signature Rhoads yesterday and it slays so far. Definitely more life and tons more versatility than my previous EMG 85x. I didn't even realize how much of a brick wall the 85x was in certain situations (and I have a C-Bomb for those purposes currently). I'll be writing a long review of the RY once I've played on it for a while. I also made sure to record some sound clips of the 85x before removing it and I'll be recording some RY clips over the weekend for a proper comparison.
Initial RY review in this guitar: excellent articulation and sounds amazing at lots of different levels of gain. It can be sweet for clean/light breakup rhythms and soft sections but can also completely rip if you need it to (haven't tried to go super heavy yet, but Prong, early Metallica, Stooges, PUP, etc. sound perfect to my ears). In this Jackson (all mahogany) it tames some of the low-mid energy, adds more upper mid-punch, brings out a nice sweetness in the highs and maintains tight (but definitely not weak) lows.
