Title: Hard-rock/almost metal tone --- humbucker for superstrat
Post by: sambo on May 03, 2006, 06:12:26 PM
ok my mate is looking to purchase a set of fine Bare Knuckles in the near future... for his gorgeous Washburn super strat...

and he likes the Seether/Smile Empty Soul type sound... if anyones heard of those bands...

i heard somewhere on here that nailbombs have very 'agressive mids'... and i THINK thats the ball-park those bands are in... please someone tell me if im going in the completely wrong direction...

we were choosing between nailbomb, miracle man, and warpig... ruled out the warpig as its for chugging really... miracle man was a bit thin/tight... (not in a bad way) and his favourite so far are the Nailbombs... (going on Tims sound clips)....

bearing in mind this is just one h/b for the bridge... there will be two single coils in there too... but thats another matter...

so would a nailbomb get a hard-rock/almost metal kinda tone similar to those bands? coupled with maybe a trilogy suite or irish tours im thinking.... thanks.

any info much appreciated.

I would vote for Nailbomb (hardrock , almost metal).

I'd say Nailbomb too. I have one in my Strat and it's awesome for hard rock/metal and everything in between (and it's coil tapped - to great effect in single mode, it's very, very close to a normal single coil tone). Sweet, deep clean tone too.

Sambo, you can't say that when you have nearly 2000 posts on the forum. Do you really not own any BKPs?

nailbomb all the way, it roars and grinds like a mutha, ease the gain a bit and you got no-nonsense attitude rock 'n' roll tone.

The Nailbomb IS one of the most versatile rock pickups that BKP has. It does anything your heart desire. Maybe the VHII has better cleans and leans more towards the "rock" side. As TwilightOdyssey pointed out, the VHII might be more suited for you.

Still the Nailbomb works great for me, and I play in both a metal and southern rock band. Just a bit of tweaking on the knobs, and voila...

+1 for the Nailbomb.

Sambo - I'm sure you know a great deal about BKPs - you must have accumulated an encyclopedia of knowledge from all your posts   :?

I think Tim should present you with a BKP teeshirt for services to the BKP forum  8)

Another vote towards the NB.

Anyhow, you WILL be satisfied with whatever pickup Tim has to offer. He plays Ozzy with Mules, for crying out loud. BKP`s can do anything, first you have to get one though...
