Title: New half built preamp day
Post by: Toe-Knee on October 05, 2021, 06:06:46 PM
Long time since i've posted on forums never mind here but thought I would come back with something a bit interesting hopefully.

Been working on this for a while along with other preamps.

This one is a personal project the others something I will be selling kits for.

As most who might remember me from back in the day 2005-2012! I am a big fan of the Mesa MKIIC+ and even built a clone at one point.

I've since moved onto rack gear and the Triaxis wasn't quite scratching the IIC+ itch so i sold it and built this.

Preamp wise its IIC+ with relay switching both the clean & Lead channels using 6n2p valves because 12ax7 are at ridiculous prices. I can get 8 of these for £4 that sound just as good and have a lower noisefloor due to the internal shield.

I've added a Graphic EQ that i designed the PCBs for that matches the original IIC+ Q & frequencies (spoiler most are nowhere near what the panel says. 6.6khz for example is 4khz)

Will soon be adding a reverb and overdrive pedal.

The main goal behind this one was to replace VST plugins. I can track using the preamp and also use the isolated output to also capture the raw DI for reamping later so two birds with one stone.
