My first post here so hello to all. :D
I need a little help making the final decision on pickups for my all mahogany Gibson Les Paul. Tim said I should get a set of ceramic pickups like the Cold Sweat and Miracle Man models to keep the bottom end under control. Now the hard part, which ones? :?
I'm using an old Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier half stack, so getting extra gain from the pickup is not really a problem. I just don't know which set has a little more usable clean sound if you turn the guitars volume knob down. If anyone has any experience with either set your opinions would be appreciated.
I have a Nailbomb set in my '75 Les Paul Standard and they sound phenomenal! since the other guitar doesn't have a maple cap it kind of changes the tonal situation a little.

I'm guessing Cold Sweats might have better cleans because they are slightly lower output than the MM.. Never played either though so I wouldnt really know.

best of both mm bridge cs neck!
-
i dont like a CS neck. prefer the riff raff.
the CS bridge though. AMAZING!! better cleans than the MM, but the MM is more focused. but both are superb pickups!!

Don't forget the Rebell Yell. A bit more treble and less bass than NB and a more "classic to hard" rock tone (a bit less power maybe, but not so much). I have one in a full mahogany guitar and it rocks!

Cold Sweat's gets my vote. Massive tone and sustains forever!!
-
I had a go on a Les Paul Custom with Cold Sweats at the show on sunday and they are fantastic, massive bottom end!
-
Ive got the Cold Sweats in my LP Custom.
Never heard the MM, but either way these PU's from Tim are great. I only play in the bedroom, but a mate of mine has CS in his LP Custom and they sound awesome.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the input guys.
I'm leaning toward the Cold Sweat set. I think the Miracle Man pickups might be just a little to "Metal" for me. :P
My band is kind of a cross between Alice in Chains and Tool  , so I'm jumping from clean to dirty sounds all the time. I'm thinking the lower output Cold Sweat set might handle that a little better.

I would go for the Cold Sweat, I think you may find it a bit more versitle than the Miracle man.
-
Cold Sweat set is on the way!

I was thinking of a Cold Sweat sweat and a MM bridge and CS neck. Do you this will sound to similar?
Should I go for a CS set and NB or HD also I want some of that 80's vibe to shred galore

For "shred galore"...that makes me think Nailbombs! I also highly reccomend the Cold Sweat neck coupled with either a Miracle Man or Nailbomb...greatttt for shred stuff, especially if the you live on fluid neck tones for your distorted leads!
