Title: Which Alnico 5 bridge pickup is "similar" to the Ragnarok bridge?
Post by: BTS on February 24, 2022, 01:11:27 AM
Hi All,

Just looking for any impressions/suggestions - I have a ragnarok bridge in an ash ibanez RG. I love the pickup, its powerful and has a big broad midrange. The highs arent harsh but are clear, and I dont feel it lacks any bass. It seems to me to be fairly versatile for most metal and harder rock, but really shines in the high gain styles and I use it mostly in D standard to drop B. One aspect I really like is that it is a powerful pickup and you dont have to work  (pick) too hard to get definition and squeals for instance.

Does anyone have any views or experience on what Alnico 5 bridge based pickup BKP offers which is less intense than the ragnarok bridge, (which would be used for standard and drop D for rock, hard rock and some metal) but otherwise has a similar EQ curve and characteristics (not harsh highs, strong midrange, decent power, without an overblown/unruly bottom end). Would this be something like the BKP Silo, polymath or something else?

This might have a bit of duplication with past post - apologies if so - but was hoping that with a bit more time, more people will have more experience.

Cheers

Probably the alnico version of the Nailbomb is closest to your needs.  Also worth considering the alnico Black Hawk, although that might be a bit too hot

Polymath or perhaps the Crawler would get you closest. The Nailbomb and Silo both have the nice broad midrange but are a bit darker and more low-mid heavy. The Black Hawk has a very different voicing and feel.
