Hello all,
I've heard a lot of good things about bareknuckle pickups, so i thought i'd upgrade my duesenburg caribou's neck pickup.
The guitar has a sound chamber if that makes any difference.
The bridge pickup is a duesenburg grand vintage pickup, and is quite twangy but i generally like it.
My issue lies with the p90 domino pickup in the neck. It's a lot quieter than the bridge, and to be honest is a bit muddy, so i was wondering what p90 might be a good replacement.
The music i play is mostly rock/hard rock/grunge, would need to be able to handle some gain but also produce a nice clean.
I did have my eye on the supermassive p90, but i'm worried it may not pair well with the vintage bridge pickup. Plus the duesenburg also has this weird middle pickup setting that uses both and phases the sound.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
My gear:
victory kraken vx50 - for my distortion
victory jack preamp - for my clean and light overdrive

Sounds like you want a Nantucket in the neck - character-wise it'll match a twangy vintage-style humbucker and should have an equal amount of grunt while remaining clear at all times. I have a Nantucket bridge in my LP Jr and it has a lovely full, bitey clean tone, and clarity remains no matter how much gain you pile on.

I have a Mississippi Queen HSP90 in my PRS with an Abraxas HB in the bridge and that pickup is one of my favorite of ALL TIME. My next guitar will be a dual P90 guitar because that pickup has made me a fan of P90's. Good luck!

I have a bridge Supermassive in a Hamer Special bridge position. It is one of my all time faves for a straight into a Marshall rawk sound. I haven’t used the neck model, but. I have to think that it wouldn’t be the best match for a vintage level humbucker in the bridge.
I have used the Blue Note set. Dug the bridge, but for me, the neck was too warm. Not muddy, mind you, but too warm. YMMV and all that…
I haven’t used the Nantucket neck, but I use the bridge model in another guitar, and it is a wonderful vintage level P90, my fave for vintage level. If that’s anything to go by, maybe the neck model will work for you?
I feel like my suggestions have landed fore and aft of the intended target!
