Title: New Amp Problem

The amp keeps going up and down in volume and occasionally makes a loud "pop" noise, im guessing this is time for a power amp re-valve?

yep, sounds like a classic dodgy output valve symptom.

I had a loud hum on my new Ampeg VL1002 which turned out to be a bad EL34.  I broke my own rule of testing the output valves first - I've been trying to fix this thing on/off for the past week (heh).

Kinda what my fender is doing and I was told by people on here it may be a valve problem, so you could try that too  :D
